Feeling Restless

We’re over a year into the pandemic - and I am READY to travel.

I had a fun conversation the other day, which ended with me telling the story of our family cruise down the Seine in June 2019. Little did I know, that would be my last significant travel for 2 years.

My grandfather turned 90 in 2019, and in honor of his Birthday, and my mom finally retiring, my parents took the family on a trip to Europe…all based around a Viking River Cruise. As my Grandfather is a Veteran (and a HUGE river cruise fan), and we were traveling in June, we picked the Paris to Normandy 7 day cruise.

For the year we were planning, and then waiting to go, my brother and I told many a joke about how we would be the youngest ones on the boat, as these cruises tend to cater to retirees. Well, we were almost the youngest - there were 20 something sisters traveling with their grandparents - but it was the BEST trip I have ever had. We made so many memories, had so many laughs, and soaked up all of the history.

I got one, can’t wait to take my next river cruise on Viking. (Here’s looking at you Danube!)

The service is impeccable. There are less than 200 passengers, so you get to know the other travelers. The pace is slow (see above, we were nearly the youngest, with our parents being the next oldest). And it’s just relaxing and fun.

The experience is what you make it, we walked 10K+ steps per day, saw all of the sites, and are and drank all of the things. And we line danced with the staff as we sailed down the Seine.
