Brunching
I haven’t brunched enough.
I live in San Francisco. We brunch like it’s our job. We love a new creative breakfast cocktail, a slice of fancy french toast, or tried and true eggs benedict.
But I’m not very good at brunching. I go to the same spots, and order the same things. But I’ve decided to embrace my inner San Franciscan and be a better bruncher.
So, for my birthday, my family came to SF to try out Wayfare Tavern’s recently launched brunch.
You guys.
The Wayfare Tavern Fried Chicken is no joke.
(Seriously - take a second and Google it)
Pair that with a savory waffle, and a mushroom gravy? AND THEN add a Gin and Tonic?
Birthday Brunch win.
We spent a lazy Sunday in the Billiards Room , and ordered rounds of The Portola and a lot of Fried Chicken and Waffles.
Have you been to the St. George Distillery on Alameda? No? Do it. Go, take the tour, try all the Gin.
The Portola highlights St. George Terroir Gin, and is complimented by Fever Tree tonic, juniper berries, kaffir lime leaf and grapefruit.
YES PLEASE.
My Grandfather (who just turned 90 and from whom I have learned oh so many things) enjoyed a Bacon Bloody Mary and Bananas Foster Pancakes. He couldn’t be bothered with a photo - there were pancakes to eat and pork topped drinks to drink!
The rest of us? Fried Chicken and G&Ts. All Day.
I’ve realized I’ve been neglecting my brunch game. What are your brunch must haves in the Bay Area?
Muchly,
Katy
